The 655 series is a 6.55 metre plate aluminium boat kit sitting between the 615 and the 700 - the size a lot of serious offshore fishers land on once they have worked out how far they actually travel and how much fuel that takes. Three models are available: the 655CC centre console at $20,970 excluding GST, the 655CD cuddy cab at $21,970 and the 655HT hardtop at $23,710.

The hull is 6.55 m long, 6.80 m overall, on a 2.50 m beam, with a 6 mm bottom, 4 mm sides, 3 mm decks and 3 and 4 mm cabin. Effective deadrise is 20 degrees and the deck is self-draining. Fuel capacity rises from 260 to 300 litres, maximum single-engine power rises to 250 hp with 175 to 225 hp recommended, and the twin outboard option can go up to 2 x 130 hp, although with the same 175kg each weight limit. Person capacity stays at six and cockpit depth at 0.68 m.

The 300 litre tank and the extra cockpit space are the main arguments for the 655, and slightly improved ride quality.

If you need more space and capacities again, look at the 700 series, slightly longer in the v-berth and the cockpit, a 21 degree deadrise and a centre cab option.
