The C600 series is a 6 metre aluminium catamaran boat kit and the smallest twin-outboard cat in the Sherwood Marine range. Three models share the hulls: the C600CC centre console at $25,680 excluding GST, the C600CD cuddy cab at $27,880 and the C600HT hardtop at $29,380.
The hulls are 6.04 m long with a 6.79 m overall length on a 2.50 m beam. Plate is 6 mm on the bottom, 4 mm sides, 3 mm decks and 3 mm cabin. Deadrise at the centre of gravity is 18 degrees. Fuel capacity is 2 x 180 litres, giving 360 litres total, person capacity is six, and the deck is self-draining. Cockpit depth is 0.76 m. Power is twin outboards to 130 hp each, with 2 x 100 to 130 hp recommended and a 190 kg per-engine weight limit.
It used to be, with lighter two-stroke outboards, quite possible to run twin outboards on catamarans down to around 5m length or even smaller. With the other advantages of heavier 4-strokes seeing them virtually taking over the market, that changeover point has moved upwards, but at 6m length is perfect for twins. Combined with 360 litres of fuel, a self-draining deck and a very deep cockpit, the C600HT in particular makes a serious offshore fishing and diving platform on a trailer.
